The Foundation Series by Isaac Asimov. In school, his favorite subjects are mathematics, physics, and biology. On a warmer note, he thinks that the simple organism of "slime mold" is brilliant. Daniel has a funny bone and likes Calvin and Hobbes and The Far Side.
